MICROGREENS KIT GROWING INSTRUCTIONS
Beetroot, Swiss Chard, Pea & Sunflower
For all other seeds [Click Here]
1. Ideal temperature to grow microgreens is between 18-21º C.
Most seeds can be sowed directly onto growing medium but certain seeds such as beetroot, Swiss chard, pea & sunflower, require soaking overnight or for 12 hours. 2. Place one pellet in a bowl with 200ml of water and soak for 15 minutes. Pour out any excess water. This is your growing medium. |
3. Scoop 2 tsp of growing medium and set aside for later.
4. Fill 2 tsp of growing medium into the pot and sprinkle with 2 or 3 **plant food pellets, then scoop the rest of the growing medium into the pot. ** Plant food is provided if you decide to keep the microgreens growing for more than 2 weeks |
8. Spray the seeds with water & label the pot. Keep the pots on the kitchen counter, inside cupboard or anywhere warm, well ventilated, dark and away from light. 9. Water your seeds once or twice a day with a spray bottle over the paper towel to keep the seeds moist. Do not go overboard - that is how you get mould. Once they have germinated, keep the growing medium moist by continuing to water once a day. |
Keep Out of Light (KOOL)
Keeping the microgreens out of light initially, will encourage the microgreens to grow taller. This adds some extra length to the stems for you to safely cut them during harvesting without too much dirt. We recommend to keep the pot out of light until the plant grows to around 25-30mm, typically around 6-8 days after sowing. Then, place them by the window cill or anywhere well-lit until they are ready to harvest.

Harvesting
When the microgreens are around 3 inches / 75mm tall with bright and open leaves, they are ready for harvest. To harvest your crop, use sharp scissors to cut the microgreens just above the soil. Wash thoroughly before eating. Once harvested, discard or compost the pots.
Tips For A Successful Crop
Roots Hair
Microgreens will put out roots quickly and spawn hundreds of little root hairs, which are often confused for mould. While they look similar, you can identify root hairs by their even distribution and clustering around the tap root of your seedling. Heat & Sunlight Prolonged exposure to sunlight or heat will wilt the plant. Be extra careful when placing microgreens on south-facing windows or conservatories. |

How Much Watering Do Microgreens Need?
Microgreens need watering once a day and you will need to increase the amount of water as they grow, otherwise they will wilt. The easiest way to gauge how much to water is to look at the colour of the pot once you water the microgreens. If the pot turns a dark colour like (right pot below), it’s perfect, but if the pot stays a light colour like (left pot below), you will need to add more water.

Cotyledon & True Leaf Harvesting
Microgreens can be harvested at cotyledon stage, around 8-14 days or at first true leaf stage, around 3-4 weeks after sowing. True leaf stage, of course would generate more yield, therefore more value for money for each seeds you sow. The greens at this stage are also more intense in flavour than cotyledon greens.
